News from overseas brings way to a new subsidiary of Jaguar. The company has created a mobility company called InMotion, through their Land Rover branch.
InMotion has been introduced as a new technology company that will help to create new applications and other services to help accommodate travel issues. The InMotion service will work to be a mobility application for those without a mode of transportation to get around, similar to other transportation apps that are already on the market.
Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the company is currently working on launching this application, but it is not expected to be available for the next few months. Upon the finalization of the application, the company will then begin to test it, starting in parts of Europe, Asia, and North America.
As a small production, the InMotion project only has a team of about 30 members at the moment, but the group has high expectations for the future of the application.
Jaguar Land Rover is following in the steps of other car companies, like BMW and Ford, which have also recently launched similar applications. The service is also expected to compete with applications like Uber and Lyft, which offer similar services and transportation.
This car-sharing trend had been a major hit, especially in major cities around the world, so it comes as no shock that these major car manufacturers are looking to get on board the bandwagon.
But as a newly announced subsidiary of the Jaguar Land Rover group, InMotion has yet to clearly define how the service will be provided. The team is still working on testing applications as services, working to find the best solutions to overcome transportation issues. The company will not only be working on car-sharing options for the application, but also car-ownership solutions to take care of a variety of transportation issues.
Based on a press realease the company put out, the Group Strategy Director of Jaguar Land Rover Adrian Hallmark, said, ”With the development of new apps and on-demand services, InMotion provides us with an opportunity to provide engaging and invaluable experiences to both new and existing customers globally."
The overall goal of the InMotion group is to work to provide the best service for their users, and to work closely with those using the application to ensure quality service. InMotion intends to keep up with the demands of their customers and has yet to determine exactly what that entails, as testing is still underway.
From their London location, the InMotion group is working hard to complete their research and finalize the project, before taking it worldwide. The service has yet to develop a technology platform, which is next on their to-do list.
As for the next few months, keep your eyes open to see how testing goes for InMotion. It will be interesting to see how the group will be able to compete with their competitors in the car-sharing game. Jaguar Land Rover has certainly made things more exciting with this news.
